3. Why should I work with an EFT Practitioner instead of watching ‘tapping’ videos on YouTube?
EFT Practitioners use your specific words, emotions, and memories during each session to address the issue you’re facing. The more specific you are, the more effective the session will be. Also, you receive borrowing benefits while tapping with a practitioner because the practitioner is tapping on themselves at the same time that you’re tapping. Since we’re all connected energetically, you receive healing energy from the practitioner as well.
In contrast, YouTube videos are usually general, so they won’t always get to the root of your particular issue or problem.
4. How is EFT different than traditional talk therapy?
During talk therapy, you’re often reliving a traumatic experience by remembering the details of the event that caused the trauma. This brings the memory back to the surface of your subconscious mind, and signals to your amygdala that you’re not safe. It then triggers the ‘fight or flight’ response and creates additional stress in the body.
However, when you’re tapping on the meridian points during an EFT session, you’re directly communicating, or telling the amygdala that you’re safe. Although some of the details or emotions from a tragic event are being recalled, it’s only for a short period of time. Immediately, that memory or event is being replaced with positive words and positive emotions that bring the body and mind back into harmony.
5. How do negative emotions affect our physical health?
There’s a lot of research on this topic, but one of the most compelling explanations is this…
“Suppressing your emotions, whether it’s anger, sadness, grief or frustration, can lead to physical stress on your body. We know that it can affect blood pressure, memory, and self-esteem. Long-term, there’s an increased risk of diabetes and heart disease.”
Furthermore, when you avoid emotions it can “lead to problems with memory, aggression, anxiety, and depression”.
- Victoria Tarratt, Clinical Psychologist
This 2013 study published in the Journal of Psychosomatic Research backs up the words of Victoria Tarratt. It demonstrated that people who suppressed their emotions, rather than releasing them in a healthy way, increased their chance of premature death by over 30%. In addition, they increased their risk of being diagnosed with cancer by 70%.
6. Is stress really the root cause of many diseases? If so, what does the research reveal?
Research shows that up to 90% of all visits to primary care physicians relate to stress-related issues. Here are a few articles and studies that discuss this topic.
